The Webber Orthopaedic Research Scholarship was created in 2004 to honor Dr. Rich Webber, former Director of Orthopaedic Research at UAMS, and to promote excellence in Orthopaedic research, education and scholarly activity in Arkansas.

All gifts -- whether by check, securities, deed of land, or other charitable avenues to the Webber Orthopaedic Research Scholarship fund should be made payable to the UAMS Foundation Fund.

David Findlay 2004 Webber Scholar

David Findlay, Ph.D.

     The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Center for Orthopaedic Research are pleased to welcome Dr. David Findlay as the inaugural Webber Scholar in Orthopaedics. David Findlay, Ph.D. is currently Professor of Orthopaedic Research in the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma at the University of Adelaide and a Member of the Hanson Institute. After his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at The University of Melbourne, and a 3 year postdoctoral period at the National Institute of Dental and Cranial Facial Research, in Bethesda MD, he returned to Australia in 1987 where he assumed the position of Assistant Professor at St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne. His research efforts there led to the identification of the rat calcitonin receptor and an increased understanding of the biology of the osteoclast. In 1996 he relocated to his present position in Adelaide. Currently his research interests are in the cell and molecular biology of bone and bone cancers and the translation of basic research into clinical outcomes, particularly focusing on Orthopaedics.
